This job holder is a key member of the Process Safety community with direct responsibilities for Process Safety activities in Korea and Asia region. The job holder also needs to network with US, Europe and central team process safety engineers.

The Process Safety Engineer facilitates the use of Air Products and local regulatory process safety related standards/policies by working closely with the operation, engineering and commercial teams to provide the process safety deliverables and engineering solutions that are cost effective and meet the Process Safety goals, with consideration on reliability.

During the engineering and execution of a production project, the Process Safety engineer is an integral part of the project team and is responsible for Process Safety engineering deliverables. The job holder provides appropriate input, guidance, or information to other disciplines, and supports the commissioning and startup of the plant as required. During the operation phase, the job holder facilitates or assists the operating team to implement the Process Safety Management Program. The objective is to ensure that all Process Safety Management elements are properly implemented to reduce or eliminate the potential for release of energy or material. The job holder also supports due diligence activities for prospective merger and acquisitions, as well as post merger integration of process safety requirements.

The Process Safety engineer leads or performs Hazard reviews, Qualitative risk analysis, Quantitative risk analysis, Mechanical Integrity consulting, Safety integrated system analysis. Management of change, Process safety management, Operation readiness inspection, Compliance Audit, and Process Safety training, etc.
Principal Accountabilities

Lead and/or facilitate Process Hazard Reviews for projects and operating facilities to ensure adequate existing safeguards and recommend additional safeguards as required to meet safety corporate safety target.

Developing and conduct process safety standards, tools, programs, training courses, and work process. Identify and implement continuous improvement efforts for improved process safety performance.

Provide process safety consulting support and recommend optimal solutions to the operating and commercial teams in execution of process safety requirements and to ensure compliance with Air Products standards and policies.

Assist in interpretation of national and local Process Safety Regulatory / Code requirements for the subregions where the plant will be installed or modified and provide guidance to the project team. Assist in assessment or review for regulatory and permitting process.
Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. Advanced degree is preferred.

Have around 5-10 years of experience in Gas, Petrochemicals, Chemical or related industry in process engineering or plant engineering.

Hands-on experience and understanding in process engineering such as P&ID’s safety relief demand scenarios, and basic function of unit operations is required. Experience in process safety and monitoring equipment, instrumentation, process control, HVAC and electrical design is a plus.

Good engineering problem-solving skills, good interpersonal and communication skills, and enthusiasm about his/her mission.

Fluent written and speaking English skill required.
