Data Products & Analytics at PMI plays a critical role in applying advanced data science, predictive and prescriptive analytics, and emerging technologies such as Generative AI to generate insights, improve decision-making, and create business value across PMI’s transformation journey.

Role Level & Positioning
This role is positioned as a Principle Data Scientist within the Data Science job level hierarchy, representing a senior individual contributor role with broad organizational influence. It requires deep subject-matter expertise in Data Science, advanced analytics, and data-driven decision-making, with the ability to guide, coach, and influence stakeholders across the organization.
The role is expected to create short- to mid-term operational plans, drive function-level initiatives, and improve processes, systems, or products through advanced data science methodologies, predictive and prescriptive analytics, and innovative problem-solving.
Purpose
The Principle Data Scientist will lead the development and implementation of advanced data science methodologies, predictive and prescriptive analytics, and data-driven tools to support strategic decision-making across the organization.
This role converts complex business needs into viable data products and proofs of concept, while managing expectations on delivery timelines, quality, and business value.
You will conceptualize, prototype, and implement algorithms and analytical solutions that address complex, undefined, and high-impact business challenges across functions.
The role requires expert-level data science knowledge, strong project management capabilities, innovative problem-solving, and the ability to influence stakeholders through clear, data-driven storytelling.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement advanced data science methodologies to drive strategic decision-making across the organization.

Create predictive models, statistical reports, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends, patterns, and business opportunities.

Lead the creation of innovative tools, techniques, and processes that enhance data-driven research, insights, and decision-making.

Partner with business stakeholders to translate business needs into viable data products, analytical solutions, and proofs of concept.

Manage expectations regarding delivery timelines, quality, scope, and business impact of data products and PoCs.

Manage external Data Science teams and cross-functional contributors to support a product-based organization.

Leverage the latest developments in Generative AI and advanced analytics to improve efficiency in business processes.

Resolve high-impact, multi-dimensional problems through cross-functional collaboration and innovative analytical approaches.

Improve existing processes, systems, and products by conceptualizing and implementing significant enhancements based on data insights.

Communicate complex analytical outputs through compelling data-driven storytelling that supports executive understanding and action.

Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

University degree or equivalent work experience in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Expert-level knowledge of advanced data science techniques and their application to solve complex business problems.

Proficiency in designing and implementing data architectures, predictive models, and analytical solutions that inform strategic decisions.

Strong project management skills to oversee and deliver complex, large-scale data science initiatives.

Independence in conceptualizing, formulating, prototyping, and implementing algorithms to address business challenges.

Strong capabilities in data analysis and interpretation, statistical analysis and modeling, machine learning and AI, and data visualization.

Experience applying predictive and prescriptive analytics to forecast outcomes and recommend actions based on probabilities and confidence levels.

Knowledge of cloud and big data platforms to store, process, and analyze large and complex datasets efficiently.

Ability to translate complex analytics into clear insights, compelling narratives, and practical business recommendations.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Korean proficiency is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience leading or coordinating external Data Science teams, vendors, or cross-functional contributors.

Hands-on experience with Generative AI technologies and their application to business process improvement.

Experience delivering data products, proofs of concept, or analytics solutions in a product-based organization.

Experience working across business domains such as market economics, supply chain, marketing, advertising, or scientific research.

Advanced degree or certifications in Data Science, AI, cloud platforms, statistics, or related technologies are preferred.
