- Fluent Korean Language skills
- Early Years certification
- Understanding and experience with play-based learning approaches within a Reggio-inspired IB framework preferred
PK Associate Teachers work closely with classroom teachers in the daily planning and implementation of lesson plans in classes. This may involve assisting small groups of students, large groups, leading whole class lessons, preparing materials, and other teaching-related responsibilities. Specifically, we are looking for teachers who are able to:
- Support the ongoing education of PK parents in line with our school’s mission and philosophy.
- Support on-going communication between the teacher and the parent.
- Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of other classroom and single-subject teachers.
- Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities. In particular, supporting our ESOL population and our students with special social-emotional or academic needs.
- Assist class teachers with maintaining student records, including observations and documentation of students’ growth.
- Supervise the safety of students and support the development of social skills while on the playground and in the classroom.
- Attend and contribute to PYP collaborative planning meetings with the grade level team and in specific designated planning collaboration time with their mentor teacher.
- Participate in parent-teacher and student-led conferences.
- Associate teachers may be asked to do short term or long term substitution for their mentor teacher and, on occasion, other grade levels or single subjects, as needed.
PK Associate Teacher will provide administrative support to the Village School by:
- Preparing and presenting displays of students' work.
- Language support for Korean parents and other language groups within our community, when possible.
- Supporting class teachers as required.
- IB PYP professional development.
- Additional training as appropriate to the role and school goals including, inquiry, differentiation, supporting ESOL students, etc.
- Collaboration with local teacher peers.
- On-going professional development in supporting both the current intern role and the launching of an international school career in other schools.
