Job Description:

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a Senior Server Engineer, Features to join the Overwatch development team in Seoul, Korea!

As a key member of the development team, you will design, build, and maintain server systems that support a large‑scale live service game played by millions of users worldwide. You will work within a mature, complex codebase to ship new features, improve performance and reliability, debug live issues, and continuously raise the quality of the player's experience across multiple platforms.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with designers, client engineers, and other server engineers, contribute to technical design and architecture discussions, and help guide best practices to ensure our services remain scalable, secure, and highly available.

This role offers a flexible hybrid work week, with a mix of remote and on‑site days, based out of our Seoul studio. While hybrid is the standard arrangement, candidates may also choose to work on‑site full-time if preferred.

본 포지션은 전 세계 수백만 명의 플레이어가 즐기는 대규모 라이브 서비스 게임을 지원하는 서버 시스템을 설계, 개발, 유지 보수하는 역할을 담당합니다. 장기간 운영되어 온 대규모 코드베이스를 기반으로 신규 기능을 개발하고, 서버 성능과 안정성을 개선하며, 라이브 환경에서 발생하는 이슈를 분석하고 해결하게 됩니다.

또한 디자이너, 클라이언트 엔지니어, 서버 엔지니어 등 다양한 직군과 협업하며, 시스템 설계 및 아키텍처 논의에 참여하고, 오버워치의 서비스가 안정적이고 확장 가능하게 운영될 수 있도록 기술적 기준과 개발 방식을 함께 개선해 나가게 됩니다.

본 포지션은 블리자드 코리아 스튜디오 소속이며, 재택과 사무실 근무를 병행하는 하이브리드 근무 형태를 기본으로 합니다. 희망하실 경우 상시 사무실 근무도 가능합니다.

Responsibilities

Architect, implement, and maintain server‑side systems supporting non‑gameplay and live service features such as custom games, player grouping, social systems, highlights, and Battle.net integration.

Support and evolve live service infrastructure with a focus on reliability, performance, scalability, and uptime.

Design and optimize distributed systems with strong client/server and networking considerations.

Debug and resolve complex issues in live production environments.

Partner closely with designers, artists, client engineers, and other server engineers to take features from concept through release.

Contribute to technical direction through system design discussions, architecture reviews, and code reviews.

Mentor and support the growth of less‑experienced engineers through guidance and knowledge sharing.

Continuously improve workflows, tools, and technical standards to support long-term service health.

클라이언트/서버 통신 및 네트워크 구조를 고려한 분산 시스템 설계와 최적화
라이브 프로덕션 환경에서 발생하는 복잡한 서버 이슈 분석 및 해결
디자이너, 아티스트, 클라이언트 엔지니어, 서버 엔지니어와 협업하여 신규 기능을 구현 및 출시
시스템 설계, 아키텍처 리뷰, 코드 리뷰 과정에서 기술적 의견을 제시하고, 서비스 안정성과 코드 품질 향상에 기여
팀원들에게 기술적 가이드와 지식을 공유하며 엔지니어링 역량 향상 지원
장기적인 서비스 안정성을 위해 개발 워크플로우, 툴, 기술 기준 개선

Minimum Requirements

8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on server or backend development.

Experience shipping at least one AAA title as a server engineer.

Strong C/C++ expertise in networked or server environments.

Extensive experience with networking, client/server communication, and distributed systems.

Proven experience supporting live services in production environments.

Solid understanding of server and network security considerations.

Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.

Strong problem‑solving skills with end‑to‑end ownership of features.

Comfortable collaborating across disciplines with excellent written and verbal communication skills, in both English and Korean.

Self‑motivated, accountable, and able to work independently within a collaborative team.
