The IT/OT Integration and Automation Engineer drives the secure and reliable convergence of operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) at the Songdo site.
The IT/OT Integration and Automation Engineer will be responsible for integrating operational technology (OT) with information technology (IT) and implementing secure, reliable automation across manufacturing systems. The position holder will plan and support control systems and MES integrations, lead or participate in automation projects, and drive IT/OT security and compliance to improve performance, quality, and uptime.
- Define and implement the site-level IT/OT integration strategy and architecture aligned with company standards.
- Plan, configure, and maintain PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems; integrate shop-floor equipment with MES and related applications.
- Lead or support automation projects from concept through commissioning, testing, qualification, and handover.
- Coordinate supplier and system integrator activities and ensure quality deliverables, documentation, and change control.
- Implement and enforce IT/OT security controls (e.g., IEC 62443), including access management, patching, backup and restore, and network segmentation in collaboration with IT.
- Monitor system performance; troubleshoot incidents, conduct root-cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with operational safety, validation, and applicable regulatory requirements for manufacturing systems.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation such as SOPs, architecture diagrams, and configuration baselines.
- Provide training and user support for local personnel on IT/OT applications, automation practices, and security.
- Identify and implement continuous improvements in automation, data integrity, and process reliability.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a comparable field; or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience in IT/OT infrastructure and industrial control systems within manufacturing or similarly regulated environments.
- Hands-on experience with PLC/SCADA/DCS systems and integrations with higher-level systems (e.g., MES); familiarity with industrial protocols such as OPC UA and Modbus.
- Practical experience implementing cybersecurity measures in OT environments; knowledge of relevant standards such as IEC 62443.
- Understanding of industrial networking and segmentation; experience with Windows/Linux server administration and virtualization is a plus.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a structured, proactive work style.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in Korean and English.
- Ability to collaborate across IT, engineering, production, quality, and supplier teams and to work effectively with minimal direct supervision.
- No disciplinary or functional leadership responsibilities.
