Remote Factory(RF)

Remote Factories are supplier-operated manufacturing sites that build, test, and qualify Lam products outside of Lam-owned production facilities. These factories play a critical role in supporting global manufacturing capacity, product deployment, and High-Volume Manufacturing (HVM) operations.

As a Test Engineer at Lam, you'll design and implement efficient testing methods for product development and manufacturing, improving quality and reducing cycle time. You'll perform diagnostic tests, design test features and equipment, and create detailed specifications for new products. What you’ll do

This position offers a leadership role in technical troubleshooting and provide engineering solutions to Remote Factories (RF) manufacturing Lam Products. The candidate will manage program or project and drive cross functional team alignment functions for key initiatives in SET (Supplier Engineering & Technology) group.

As a Test Engineer within Supplier Engineering & Technology (SET), you will serve as the primary technical interface for Remote Factories, enabling supplier test teams to successfully execute manufacturing and test operations. Your role focuses on establishing and sustaining a robust test environment, driving test readiness, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support, and ensuring compliance with Lam standards and requirements. Collaborate closely with supplier engineer (SE) and cross-functional teams to improve test performance, mitigate production risks, support HVM deployment and sustaining activities, and drive continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, and operational readiness.

Develop Suppliers to meet Lam quality standards
Design, develop and implement cost-effective methods of testing, troubleshooting systems and equipment for all phases of product development and manufacturing.
Prepare test and diagnostic programs, designs test fixtures and equipment, and completes specifications and procedures for new products.
Work with internal & external stakeholders to influence decisions and drive company objectives.
Perform project management and cross functional team alignment functions for key initiatives in SET (Supplier Engineering & Technology) group.
Responsible for establishing the plan for new supplier development _ Test qualification plan for localization/part transition to local supplier
Support and develop a scalable and sustainable solution to global test fixture management for all remote factory commodities
Provide technical support in Build, Test and FQA to new Remote Factory (RF) suppliers in deposition and etch product deployment and transition
Develop efficient automated testing procedures through software scripting.

Who we’re looking for

Engineering Degree (Electrical/Electronics/Computer Science).
Understand control systems in process automation (preferably wafer handler (EFEM and TM) & Process Module (PM) & & AC/DC Power distribution panel/box & serial communication protocols (Device Net, Ethercat, TCP/IP, RS 485, RS 232, EIOC).
Fundamental understanding of semiconductor equipment vacuum systems, including vacuum control, leak detection, pump-down performance, and troubleshooting of vacuum-related issues.
Functional understanding for sub-parts of wafer handler EFEM, TM and Process Module, such as robotics and associated Mechanical Systems/Automation, Hardware Instrumentation & Controls
5 years’ experience in Test Engineering/Development environment with in-depth knowledge of Python/LabView or other scripting languages.
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and proficient in electrical circuit testing & troubleshooting.
Skills in understanding electric circuit diagram (electrical schematic)
Excellent verbal & written communication skills with proven track record in managing technical projects.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
