Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced, commercially minded finance leader to join the JAPAC finance team as Korea Commercial Finance Lead. This role will act as the key finance business partner for the Korea functional leadership team, supporting Commercial, Medical and enabling functions across planning, business performance, P&L management and decision support.
Korea is a strategically important and complex market within JAPAC. The role requires strong FP&A capability, business judgment, financial discipline and the ability to translate financial data into clear business insights and actions. The incumbent must be comfortable working across both strategic topics and hands-on operational details, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Essential Functions of the job:
- Based in Korea and responsible for leading Commercial Finance / FP&A support for the Korea affiliate.
- Act as the key finance business partner for the Korea functional leaders across Commercial, Medical and enabling functions.
- Lead Korea’s financial planning processes in alignment with JAPAC FP&A, including Latest Forecast, Long Range Plan and Annual Budget.
- Own and manage the Korea P&L, including revenue, gross margin, operating expenses and key performance drivers.
- Prepare Korea analysis and presentations for Korea leadership, JAPAC leadership and corporate management as required.
- Develop financial business cases and provide finance input into strategic initiatives, investment decisions, resource allocation and new business opportunities.
- Recommend solutions for business process, technical and analytical issues that arise in everyday work, with a focus on improving accuracy, efficiency and decision quality.
- Partner with Accounting, Tax, Procurement and other Finance teams to ensure appropriate financial governance, controls and process discipline.
- Support month-end close activities from an FP&A perspective, including review of actuals, accruals, reclasses and key accounting matters impacting management reporting.
- Support internal audit, SOX, US GAAP, statutory and local GAAP related reviews as required, in partnership with the JAPAC Accounting team.
- Participate in the ongoing development of accounting policies, procedures and operational strategies, including review and implementation of process and system changes.
- Continue to improve system efficiencies, reporting tools, business practices and FP&A ways of working.
- Contribute to JAPAC Finance projects and multi-country initiatives as they arise.
Qualification Required:
Education Required:
Essential - University level degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related discipline. Professional qualifications in Finance such as CPA/CA/CIMA or local equivalent preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A. The role may have direct or indirect people management responsibilities depending on the Korea Finance future structure and future team requirements.
Computer Skills:
SAP S4 Hana, Excel, Power BI, Microsoft Office and planning/reporting systems (TM1 preferred)
Other Qualifications:
- Accounting/Business/Finance Bachelor degree or above with around 10+ years of relevant experience in Finance, Accounting, Forecasting, Planning and Analytics in a multinational finance environment. (Experience in Pharmaceutical / Lifesciences mandatory).
- Strong commercial finance and FP&A experience, including P&L management, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis and management reporting.
- Experience partnering with senior commercial leaders and cross-functional stakeholders in an affiliate or market finance role.
- Experience of delivering insights from data and ability to tell the story and present analysis, information and reporting in a clear and impactful way.
- Excellent technical and analytical skills in finance, forecasting, financial analysis and budgeting, with an understanding of business disciplines required to interpret financial data.
- Sound business judgment and ability to challenge assumptions constructively while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
- A curious mind and the ability to work collaboratively and take an enterprise mindset.
- An interest in emerging technology, data analytics and FP&A best practices.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with all levels and departments within the company.
- Willingness to be hands-on; desire to work in a fast-paced, changing environment; strong communication skills combined with cultural sensitivity.
- Excellent spoken and written Korean and English mandatory.
